htaccess

I think I managed to fix the problem with my .htaccess file. I have no idea how to fix the feed problems with bloglines though.

$#@%!!

I was trying to troubleshoot the problem I was having with my feeds in bloglines, and I think I managed to mess up my .htacess file. So if you notice any wackiness going in with the site, that is the cause.

I’m stepping away from the blog now before I mess anything else up.

V for Vendetta

I don’t think I’ve ever had a more mixed reaction to a movie. I feel as if I’ve gone to see a wacky exhibit of installation art where someone made a sculpture of lovely diamonds embedded in a giant pile of rhinocerous excrement. Although I might want to appreciate the lovely diamonds, I’m distracted by the horrible overwhelming smell of rhino shit. There were some funny and clever moments that made me laugh, but these moments would be immediately offset by something so off with the adaptation that I’d be laughing at the movie. Hugo Weaving was great, as were most of the British cast.

Test post & Wacky feeds

Ever since I upgraded to the latest version of wordpress, my rss and atom feeds have been showing up as invalid in bloglines, although they seem to work just fine in FeedDemon. This is a test post to see if they are working now. If you subscribe to this site with an RSS reader that isn’t bloglines, and you’ve had a problem with the feed not updating, can you let me know? Although if the feed isn’t updating and you only read this site through a feed reader you wouldn’t be reading this post. Arrgh.

The feeds which seem to have problems are

Other feeds seem to work just fine. I’m mystified.

do you have a favorite search?

Do you have any favorite searches that you use when you test out library catalogs or library databases? For whatever reason, whenever I take a look at a library catalog, the first book I search for is Dodie Smith’s I Capture the Castle. So when I finally got a chance to play around with John Blyberg’s cute proof of concept example of adding user data to a library catalog via faux handwriting annotations on old time images of library cards, that was the book I searched for. So some of the annotations on the card are mine.

I Capture the Castle is one of my favorite “comfort” books, if I ever am sick enough to only be capable of lying in bed and reading, it is one of the first books I reach for.
