library weblogs update?

Posted on | August 19, 2005 | 2 Comments

I have an idea which may be useful or may be totally redundant. So I’d appreciate some feedback on this before I think any more about putting it together. I know a bunch of comics bloggers use Comic Weblog Updates, which seems to be based on a script based on pings to blo.gs. I’m wondering if it might be useful to have a similar source for library blogs.

Reasons not to do this:

We have lisfeeds already.

Reasons to do this:

It might provide another way for people to pimp their library blogs. We don’t have lisblogsource around anymore, so if people choose to have their blogs listed it might provide a way of discovering new library blogs.

It might promote more serendipitous library blog browsing.

Any thoughts?

While people talk about The Blogosphere like it’s one thing it’s not. I’ve always been a supporter of fostering smaller communities with blogs. I think more focused versions of blo.gs is better for every one. Not to mention that people find cool things to do with large data sets all the time.

We’ll see if any library people think it is worth doing or not – I’d rather work on it if it is something that might be uesful.

Of course, it would be also be an excuse for me to play around with web pages, so I may do it anyway.
