The Promise was beautifully filmed and operatically overwrought. I can’t say much for the plot, but you know that you’re seeing a pretty good action movie when the villian fights with razor-tipped fans as his main weapon. It is a nice movie to see if you enjoy a lot of billowing silk and wirework in your martial arts movies.

I just received my copy on VCD. The trailer looked amazing, and I’m a sucker for billowing silk and flowing leaves. Hmm - Billowing Silk and Flowing Leaves would be a great name for a movie.
I have seen the movie twice and my teenage children also saw it. I really liked it alot…the beauty of the crimson armor and the landscape and the wardrobe and the actors…..I found all three male actors to be sexy in his own right….most of my girlfriends liked the Duke of THe North….the style of the clothing…the assasin was a cool character with his sideways stance and sad look…..I really liked it…wish it were more popular but it is not being advertised…
