Now that the future Mr. Tangognat is visiting, I’m catching up on some of the movies that I’ve been meaning to see. We went to see Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. I enjoyed Goblet of Fire more, I was surprised at how well the book compressed to movie-length, even if I missed some of the side stories like Hermione fighting for house elf rights. I was glad that the twins got a bit more screen time, they were hilarious.
The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe struck me as a very careful adaptation. I’m glad I saw it, but I don’t think I’ll be rewatching it all that much in the future. I wonder if they’ll be able to adapt more of the Narnia books.

Happy visiting indeed.
Tonight I saw the Harry Potter in the Imax version at the Smithsonian. All I can say is, woo hoo! I was both highly amused and rather impressively immersed.
Cheers.
Seeing it on Imax must have been fun!
oh yes it was most hootfull.
(no pun intended on owls-as-messengers. really! my mind just works that way unbidden.)
furthermore, it was actually, unless i am even less memorious than Funes of fabled but impotent memory than i think, it may have been my first Imax experience, unrepentant Luddite that i am….
except, having enjoyed it, i must be repentant?
What amaranthbiscuit doesn’t mention is that they have on display Harry’s battered costume from his encounter with the dragon, plus his broom (going crazy trying to remember the make and model!) and … blast, what was the third item, Krum’s quidditch uniform? In any case: museum case against the far left wall of the waiting area just beyond where they take the tickets.
Lucky enough to snag a couple of tickets on staff preview night, and we were there quite early — probably would have missed the display had we gotten there once the crowds started gathering!
