There is a problem with watching series that are sometimes critically acclaimed, have a fanatical following, yet don’t do well in the ratings. Eventually they get canceled. I’m a little bummed about Angel getting the plug pulled. I was really enjoying the current season, especially with the return of my favorite lawyer with an evil transplanted hand.
Eventually Alias will get canceled too, and what will I do then? No more random Tarantino guest star appearances where it is made clear that he LOVES (really loves) Sark’s haircut? No more Agent Wise? No more wishing that someone would kill Vaughn’s evil wife already?
The world will be a much less entertaining place. I’ll always have my dvd boxsets though!

The quicker technology like Tivo kills off the advertising model of mass market TV program making the better!
Once viewers can easily skip over advertising, the HBO model of subscription programs will take over - then we’ll see how many people are actually willing to pay to see the latest reality based foderstomp.
Judging from sales of Buffy, Angel, Firefly, Alias, 6 Feet Under and Sopranos DVDs, there are plenty of people ready to pay up for something worth watching.
Long live the new TV!

Ah, yes. I was the president of the Space: Above and Beyond fanclub during high school. I was also treasurer and historian. Come to think of it, I was also the only member. Sigh.

I guess if Angel is canceled, Joss Whedon will have more time to write X-Men comic books
I still lament the loss of that old show on Nickelodean, Pete & Pete. Any tv series that would cast Iggy Pop as a cardigan wearing suburban father was ok by me!
