Books
A Traitor to Memory by Elizabeth George - A very long psychological mystery, this was a good pick to read when traveling.
Four and Twenty Blackbirds by Cherie Priest - Southern gothic mixed with fantasy, this was very well written.
Twilight by Stephenie Meyer - This was a gripping young adult vampire novel. It was great!
Murder Carries [...]

Books
Lying Low by Diane Johnson - This was an emotionally charged novel about an unconventional household filled with secrets.
Anybody Out There by Marion Keyes - If you’ve read other Marion Keyes books, this is the latest book about one of the Walsh sisters.
Misfortune by Westly Stace - This long novel featured plenty of Dickens flavored [...]

Not being employed has let me read more books! And for some reason I felt more free to reread some old books.
Books
The Secret History of the Pink Carnation and The Masque of the Black Tulip by Lauren Willig - I thoroughly enjoyed these books - they were a pastiche of spy drama, romance novel, and [...]

Sloppy Firsts and Second Helpings by Megan McCaffery - I was prompted to read these due to the great YA plagiarism scandal, and I’m happy I picked them up because they were so funny and well-written.
Prep by Curtis Sittenfeld - I steered clear of this when it first came out because of all the hype, [...]

Books
Touched by Venom by Janine Cross - There was a lot of circumcision, castration, and bestiality in this book. Really a lot. It was odd. I should have known better since Jacqueline Carey of all people blurbed it as being “harrowing”. Indeed.
High Five by Janet Evanovich - Another Stephanie Plum book. I think I’ve almost [...]

Books
The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova - A sprawling novel that features researchers tracking down Dracula. It could have been a little shorter, there were some sections that dragged a bit. But the book does feature many librarians!
A Changed Man by Francine Prose - Novel about a white supremicist who quits and joins a humanitarian [...]

Books
Summers at Castle Auburn, The Safe-Keeper’s Secret, and The Truth-Teller’s Tale by Sharon Shinn
Good YA books! Sometimes I like discovering authors late, because then there are plenty of books available for me to read.
I got a bunch of Janet Evanovitch books from the public library (I am trying to be thrifty and buy fewer books):

Three [...]

I read a bunch this month. I wasn’t reading anything mentally taxing, although I did acutually read one non-fiction book which is quite a rarity for me.
Goodnight Nobody by Jennifer Weiner - More uneven than her other books, I don’t think the mystery elements blended well with the main plot.
Wedding Season by Darcy Cosper - [...]

2005 Reading History

This year I read 59 books and 151 manga/graphic novels. This is up from last year a little bit. The extra books are mostly due to my reading massive amounts of Rex Stout mysteries when I was on vacation. I think the books I most enjoyed this past year were Everything is Illuminated by Jonathan [...]

Books
Homicide Trinity By Rex Stout
The Borribles by Michael de Larrabeiti - A fun urban fantasy set in London.
The Crystal Cave by Mary Stewart - I’m not sure if I read the Mary Stewart King Arthur books in middle school, but something about winter makes me want to revist King Arthur stories.
The Hollow Hills by Mary [...]
