Earthsea Anime

Anime News Network writes that Studio Ghibli’s next project is going to be based on Ursula K. LeGuin’s Earthsea books. Interesting. If any anime studio has to adapt these books, Studio Ghibli would be my pick. Look, Ged’s talking to a dragon!

Animefringe & Tokyopop sale

The final issue of animefringe has reviews of two of the anime series I’m enjoying right now, Samurai Seven, and Paradise Kiss

Rightstuf is running a very brief 33% off Tokyopop merchandise sale. The sale is over on the 7th.

Manga Stuff

Many good manga & anime links from earlier this week:

New issue of animefringe is up, I enjoyed the reviews of Samurai Seven (mixes The Seven Samurai with cyborgs) and Trinity Blood (a show about a vampire vampire hunter who happens to be a priest). I love shows with samurai and vampire vampire hunters, those [...]

Paradise Kiss anime

One nice thing about the way manga properties spread across various media in Japan is being able to see an anime adaptation of one of your favorite manga. I don’t tend to watch much anime on my computer because of my ancient eyes, but I decided to seek out the first episode of the Paradise [...]

Meru Puri (amazon)

I think I’m rapidly reaching a saturation point with all the shojo manga that I’ve been reading. After rediscovering manga and anime around 3 years ago, I’ve been a fairly uncritical consumer. I was just happy to have some fun manga to read. For the most part, that’s still true but [...]

magical, demonical, and steamy anime

Some of the anime I’ve been watching recently:

Someday’s Dreamers

This a three disc series about Yume, a girl who moves to Tokyo to complete her training to become a mage. The series is set in modern day Tokyo, but there is a special branch of the government that certifies mages and authorizes magical actions. [...]

Ask TangognaT: anime catalogs

Sarah Writes, “Do you know where I can subcribe to free japanesse anime/movie catalogs that can be sent to my house?”

If I get any catalogs, usually they are from online stores where I’ve ordered anime in the past. One good catalog is from rightstuf, they often have great deals. It looks like their print [...]

Champloo and Saiyuki

I finally got around to watching Samurai Champloo. I’d heard that it was great, but I never remember to watch it on Cartoon Network, and I finally got the first disk from Netflix. What a lovely show! Every samurai fight should be backed by bongo drums and jazzy keyboards. If you liked Cowboy Bebop, there [...]
