Free Vorkosigan Saga ebooks at Baen.com
I really like Lois McMaster Bujold, so I was excited to see that the The Miles Vorkosigan Saga books are now free for download. If you have an ipad, I think the regular epub format should work in the Stanza reader. Hooray for free space opera!

What I’ve knit recently
I decided to fold my knitting blog in back over here, since I don’t tend to update it frequently enough to warrant a standalone blog. Here’s what I’ve knit recently: It is a linen stitch scarf for me and a palindrome scarf for my husband. I learned to do cables for the palindrome scarf. I [...]
The Fool’s Girl by Celia Rees
I read a YA book every month for my YA book group, and I didn’t care for this month’s selection at all. The Fool’s Girl tells the story behind the play Twelfth Night, focusing on the daughter (Violetta) and son (Stephano) of the couples in the play. Normally, I’d expect to enjoy this book, but [...]
A Domestic Scene Involving a Mallorcan
Husband enters room holding a copy of Tennis Magazine. Me: They really oiled him up. Nadal. Him: That isn’t oil. He’s a beast. Me: A very shiny beast. No one is naturally that shiny. Him: That’s not oil. He’s a bronze god. Me: No one is that shiny naturally. Him: I am. I’m a sunbeam.
My New Manga Review Site: Manga Report
I’ve been thinking of doing this for some time, and I finally went ahead with launching a dedicated site for all my manga reviews. You can find it at Manga Report. From now on, all my manga reviews will be over there but I’ll keep the archives of everything that I’ve posted here. As I [...]
Parasol Protectorate Manga Adaptations
One of the tidbits that I was interested to read that came out of the recent NYCC conference was the fact that Yen Press is going to adapt Gail Carriger’s Parasol Protectorate novels into manga. This should not be especially surprising, because Carriger is published by Orbit books, which is a division of Hachette and [...]
Shinobi Life Volumes 5 and 6
I think we’re slowly catching up to the Japanese release of this series since six volumes are out here now and there are nine Japanese volumes so far. This is still one of my favorite current shoujo series. Shinobi Life started out ok with the first couple volumes then really got much better with volume [...]
Cowa! by Akira Toriyama
Continuing on with my impromptu spooky manga for the rest of the month, I just finished reading Cowa! by Akira Toriyama. While I’m aware of the whole Dragonball phenomena, I haven’t read that manga because super-long manga about fighting is generally not my thing. So I was happy to sample this single volume about the [...]
Detroit Metal City #6
I’m not ambitions enough to do a while month of Halloween-themed posts like Bully’s Riverdale Hellmouth, Andrew’s Halloween Countdown and Dorian’s Decade of Schlock. But I thought I’d try to post reviews of manga that fit in the Halloween spirit during the month of October. Thus, Detroit Metal City #6! Detroit Metal City Volume 6 [...]
