Great post, Anna. Thank you for speaking up. I'm having difficulty with the argument that making critical statements about a single series or a single author's work (or even just saying, "I hate ___________") is the same or similar to characterizing the entire volume of Japanese comics aimed at girls and young women as childish. It honestly baffles me that anyone could imagine that female manga readers would not feel insulted by the implication that what they are looking for in their comics is art that would appeal to a kindergartner. Neither stating a simple dislike for something nor discussing problematic themes in a particular work has the same level of implication or effect. Thank you for speaking so eloquently on the subject.

I have a strong dislike towards Twilight but I do want to see how the manga turns out. I don't think the art is childish (from the one picture I've seen of Bella and Edward so far). Twilight was always better suited for a manga, considering the general storyline and all. Maybe I will actually like it (doubt it though).
