Im a fan of the anime, havent read the manga yet. It is however stand out IMO.
Unlike alot of cut and paste dbz anime and manga's today, this one had me entranced. The art, the music, the style, the voice acting all superb.
And being "African American like" myself, even with the stereotypes and the horrible name "Afro" i still thouroughly enjoyed it and recommend it for any action anime fans out there.

I think there would be plenty of African American manga fans out there who would be happy to read a manga with an African American protagonist.

I've seen the cover for this one and I don't like it from cover-wise. Not really into having African American like characters as the main in mangas unless they are a side... I haven't read many good action manga lately. But I definitely enjoy D. Gray-Man.
