One of the things I like about following long-running manga series is seeing how the art evolves over time. I think one of the best examples of this is the shoujo classic Boys Over Flowers. Here are some scans from the first volume, where Tsukushi makes an impression on Tsukasa by kicking him in the face:
Tsukushi’s kick reminds Tsukasa of his older sister:
And much much later in volume twenty-six, they reach a turning point in their relationship:

That is true. After like 20 volumes you can see a bit of difference in the artist’s style. For example “Perfect Girl Evolution”. I personally enjoy the series even though it is long and there are pointless scenes to it. But definitely the best example is Kaoru Yuki. From “The Cain Saga” to “Godchild” huuuuugggeee difference.
Oh, for Boys Over Flowers, is it worth reading until the end? I only read the first two volumes.

I really like Boys Over Flowers, but you need to have the patience to enjoy an extremely drawn-out story.
