A series I follow by Tamora Pierce recently put out the next installment in audiobook only with the paper version due in a year or so, chiefly to help sales of the audio (I gather her buddy runs the company).
It could be this is something similar, though Listening Library (listed as producers of Inkdeath) are part of Random House and therefore shouldn’t need any marketing favors, really.

It now has a release date on Amazon of Sept 26th. I’m guessing your Borders put it on the shelves too soon.
