Important example of social tagging in action

in: Library

Some people want to implement social tagging in existing library applications. While I use delicious all the time, and I’d like to have a better way of accessing things than LCSH, I don’t think that social tagging alone is the answer. That being said, look at this lovely example of social tagging in action that Mr. Kevin Church called to my attention.

Sorry but that just completely made the case for me against social tagging. It may be funny but its also just a lot noise, no pun intended.

Well, I think that you’d certainly get cases where most users would be doing tagging on something as a goof, as you see here.
