reading backlog

in: books

I’ve been taking full advantage of my local public library, which combined with my buying habits (I’ve been treating myself a little bit recently due to my getting a paycheck again) has created quite the stack of unread materials sitting around my house:

Comics + Graphic Novels

Top Ten # 1 and Promethea # 1-3 - the library happened to have a bunch of Alan Moore graphic novels in at the same time
Ceres, Celestial Legend # 7,8 and 9 - library also had a bunch of Ceres
Vampire game # 7-15
Read or Die #4 - This series didn’t live up to my expectations, but I felt compelled to buy it because I loved Yomiko Readman in the anime. I hope Read or Dream is better.
Sugar Sugar Rune #3
Zombie Powder #1
Miyuki Chan in Wonderland
Sensual Phrase #1
Good Witch of the West #1 - I caught the first few episodes of the anime, so I decided I wanted to try the manga.
Fullmetal Alchemist #9
Cantarella #4
Tower of the Future #2

Books:

Fragile Things by Neil Gaiman
Spirits That Walk in Shadow by Nina Kiriki Hoffman
The Murder of Bindy MacKenzie by Jaclyn Moriarty
Abarat book 2 by Clive Barker
The Golem’s Eye by Jonathan Stroud - I loved the first book in this series, I really don’t understand why it is taking me months to finish the sequel.
Complete cello technique : the classic treatise on cello theory and practice by Diran Alexanian
Dzur by Steven Brust
The Glass Books of the Dream Eaters by Gordon Dahlquist

I’m feeling slightly paralyzed by this stack of unread books! It doesn’t help that the current book I’m reading (Jennifer Roberson’s Karavans) is a bit of a slog to get through.
I guess I should try to tackle all the library books first, return them, and then start working through my collection of books at home.

Read the Brust! Except not whle hungry.

I didn’t know there was a new Hoffman out. I should get to the library, too…

I liked how Stroud wrapped things up. Another author of a series about a young English magician could take lessons.

I know I should read the Brust…that’s one I bought though so it might take awhile.

Hm, post about the Gaiman collection when you’re done reading it, will you? I’m hit/miss regarding Gaiman (sacrilege, I know) so would love an opinion before picking it up myself.

OK, will do. It’ll probably take around a month or 2 before I get around to reading the Gaiman.
