Open Access Jargon or Obscure Pop Culture Reference

I’ve been reading a ton of stuff on open access recently. My brain always works in weird ways when I try to absorb a lot of new terminology at once. So I started making a mini-list of terms that cause confusion:
OA = Open Access or Important planet for Green Lantern?!
Group of Eight = Important Group of Australian Universities or Inspired Cover Band Name?
ROAR = Registry of Open Access Repositories or a TV show starring Heath Ledger that was quickly canceled by Fox?

I’m so glad that somebody besides me remembers the Roar TV series! Sometimes I think it was a figment of my imagination.

I swear they were rerunning it on the SciFi channel a long long time ago.

The DOAJ does not live in Venice.
Let me know if you want pointers to more reading material.

They did re-run it on Scifi and I remember it too. I think you can get Roar on DVD.
