I'd join different divisions of ALA depending on what type of job I had. And I'm also not planning on going to any of the conferences anytime soon, so that's another reason not to renew right now. I can see all sorts of reasons not to renew, so this isn't a hard sell, but if it's really just the money, you have options. Maybe again someday, but right now I'm not in the best space to take full advantage of it as an organization for professionals and networking.
