Comics at SLC Public Library

I discovered today that I can’t escape comics even when I go to the library. The Salt Lake City Public Library has an exhibit of Cerebus art running until October 27th. I think the art is from an issue after I stopped reading the comic. Woody Allen seemed to be involved in retelling the book of Genesis to a sleepy Cerebus. Anyway, I took a couple crappy cameraphone pics of the signage because it amused me.

It was interesting seeing the art in various stages, especially seeing the same pages before Gerhard and after Gerhard. So if you are in the Salt Lake area and want to see some comics art, check it out!

I enjoyed Cerebus overall, but the Woody Allen section of the penultimate Cerebus collection “Latter Days” was some of the most ungodly boring material ever presented in comics form. I suppose it would probably be interesting to theological scholars, but it made me very very angry to have to slog through it on the dim hope there would be some kind of purpose or reward for doing so. There is. Sort of. But it’s not really worth the struggle.

I think i gave up on Cerebus way before “Latter Days”. I still liked looking at the original art at the library though!
