It is getting towards the end of the week, and I don’t have many submissions for the Carnival of Infosciences.
Here are some exciting options for you to blog about and submit to the carnival.
1) Does the world really need the publication of Courtney Love’s Diary? {via}
2) How many people will apply for this job at […]

Still Need Carnival Submissions
Carnival of the Infosciences #56
I’m hosting the 56th Carnival of the Infosciences. If you’d like to send in a post of yours or nominate a post from someone else, please send it in.
I just got a sudden job offer and it starts this week (I’m going to be working with something that rhymes with figitel suppository) so I’m going […]
Guest Post at Chicken Spaghetti
Head on over to Chicken Spaghetti! I wrote a guest post over there about manga and comics for younger readers. I take a quick look at books from Tokyopop, Graphix, and First Second.
Bleach, Pirates, Light Novels, Death Note
This week’s Flipped column is dedicated to Bleach, one of my favorite shonen manga.
Chicken Spaghetti pointed out this nice Pirate bibliography for kids.
In keeping with other manga companies targeting younger readers, Seven Seas is starting a “light novel” line.
Here’s the official web site for the anime version of Death Note.
Bye Bye for now ALA
I just got my ALA renewal notice, but I can’t afford to keep my membership this year. It looks like I’ll be picking up a little intermittent part-time work, but it really isn’t enough to justify spending $110 on a membership to a professsional orgainization. Maybe I’ll join some local library organizations instead.
New Moon
I broke down and bought New Moon, because Stephenie Meyer was in town for a book signing, and a large contingent of my book group was going to see her so of course I went too! It was fun hearing her talk about her books, she seems totally in love with some of her characters. […]
Vampire Game
Vampire Game by Judal (amazon)
Vampire Game is an excellent manga that blends together humor, a fantasy setting, shojo angst, and a vampiric cat with an attitude problem. Princess Ishtar’s Great-Grandfather Phelios died while defeating the vampire king Duzell. Before Duzell died, he predicted that both he and Phelios would be reborn to fight again. […]
Comics at SLC Public Library
I discovered today that I can’t escape comics even when I go to the library. The Salt Lake City Public Library has an exhibit of Cerebus art running until October 27th. I think the art is from an issue after I stopped reading the comic. Woody Allen seemed to be involved in retelling the book […]
What’s Distracting Patricia?
Dave asks, What’s Distracting Patricia?
I think she’s been put into a trance-like state due to the antics of the Ouran High School Host Club twins.
