I've been looking at the Classical Comics Shakespeare, and i love the artwork. New idea seems to be three versions, one is the original unabridged Shakespeare text that I need for school. Cool!

Millenium Shakespeare is cool, but Manga is something far more modern, unique and exciting and the Shakespeare is by no means lost!!!

seen the new titles - really cool, but even cooler is the Millennium Shakespeare series in the classical form, covering the whole shakepeare canon... they are worth reading too. I think Manga is definately for yooung kids and teenagers but completely lost the Shakspeareian element...check the art on herewww.myspace.com/millenniumshakespeare

Hi there,

I stumbled accross your site and this discussion interested me. I am actually an artist working with London based publisher Metro Media on a manga adaptation of Hamlet. My colleague Sonia Leong is working on Romeo and Juliet. Ours are due for release in 2007. I had seen the macbeth (and also didn't like the art too much), though I wasn't aware previously of the Wiley versions....A little close to home! It's a shame to see the same plays being chosen. Adapting Shakespeare into manga is an exciting venture and one I'm loving as a huge fan of the plays, but for it to succeed, we don't want to saturate the market with the same titles. ;^_^

It was interesting to find the subject being breached here. Apologies for jumping in!

Regards,
Emma Vieceli ^_^

I'd rather read or watch actual Shakespeare than an adaptation anyway. It is interesting that people are trying to put out educational manga style stuff now though.

Puffin Graphics has a version of Macbeth manga-style. I glanced at a copy at a bookstore a few months ago, but didn't really like the art too much.
