I liked this very much. It did feel like a Richard Donner movie with better special effects. I thought Brandon Routh was appropriately Christopher Reevey.

Superman Returns
Buffy Library Playset
People on the GNLIB-L list have been talking about the Buffy the Vampire Slayer Library Playset. It is quite nice, but I don’t know about paying over 50 bucks for some molded plastic.
Basilisk
Basilisk by Futaro Yamada and Masaki Segawa (amazon)
Basilisk is one of Del Rey’s manga for mature readers. It is printed at a larger size than the typical manga volume and costs $13.95. When I first heard about it, people were saying the plot was like “Romeo and Juliet with warring ninja clans” and […]
Viz interview, Tokyopop@the library, New Edge of the Forest

Tokyopop sponsors library summer reading program {via Mangablog}

Profit
One of the nice things about the age of DVD box sets is the way you can go back in time and watch shows that you barely were able to see the first time they aired on TV. I think I caught a couple of episodes of Profit before it was canceled but all I […]
ninja librarian, pseudo manga shakespeare, too much legion
Ninja Librarian, if it were a movie I would totally watch it.
Wiley will publish manga-style Shakespeare adaptations.
I’ve read the first 4 Legion of Super-Heroes archive editions in the past 48 hours. Now I’m thinking that I’ll need to change my name to “Tango Lass”. Really, my brain is mush. Those silver-age DC comics are crazy.
ES (Eternal Sabbath)
ES (Eternal Sabbath) by Fuyumi Soryo (amazon)
I’ve read Soryo’s shojo title Mars and enjoyed it very much, so I was excited when I heard that Del Rey was going to translate her 8 volume seinen series ES. The manga opens with a young man waking up in a hotel room. He drops off his […]
Reader, I married him
The man formerly known as the future Mr. TangognaT is now Mr. TangognaT, as we were married last Friday. We had a nice Buddhist wedding with a chuppa. My little sister got to run around spritzing the guests with wisdom water as part of a purification ritual, and my Dad officiated the ceremony. Mr. TangognaT […]
Ribbon
It seems to me that weddings require at least three times the amount of ribbon you would expect such an occasion to demand. And five times the trips to the craft store that anyone would be able to withstand.
Mawidge, the bwessed awwangement
I’m in Illinois knee deep in wedding preparations. Some random wedding details you might enjoy:
I put together wedding favors in sessions with my sisters as we are watching season two Deadwood. It seems a little odd to be tying ribbon on fans while watching a saloon owner struggle with bladder stones, but that’s how we […]
