I’m NOT going to have these rose petals at my wedding. Has the world gone mad? What person needs to have their names and faces printed on rose petals? There will also be NO wedding bubblegum buddies or wedding themed toilet paper, NO bride and groom frisbee, and NO mini-bales of hay.

yikes. the wedding industry is a freaky, scary thing, isn’t it?!

I prefer to think of it as the wedding industrial complex, myself.
Yes, many brides do seem to lose control of their better judgement the minute the try on a veil. I saw people who were getting stamps and stickers made with pictures of them and had to have just the right runner and favors and tissue packets. Though I was guilty of creating a wedding CD (which DID NOT have our picture on it and was not overly sappy) and designing a monogram. But it was more because I enjoy crafty projects and making people listen to Bruce Springsteen.
Good luck with the planning and not going out of your mind with the cheesy little details you won’t even notice the day of (like the parasols I shipped from Florida to California and then left in the suite before the wedding — oh well…).

I’m going to make the wedding programs myself, which means I have to get to Paper Source ASAP. I just find it odd that there are so many products like those flower petals out there!

You missed Mere du Tangognat going “Oh, my God, oh, my God” while viewing these sites. If ever there were a web posting that made you look more sane than the surrounding crowd, this was it. Wedding TP? What’s next, funeral TP with pictures of the deceased attending other funerals? Uh, oh, better hope archive.org doesn’t get hold of this idea, or some entrepreneur will loose it on an unsuspecting world.

I agree that these items are scary. I was also disturbed by the hounds in wedding outfits/ personalized playing cards; it’s hard to think that someone would find these fitting for a wedding. I am not going to look at these web sites any more, lest I feel faint. Now I feel I am not being too obsessive by thinking about putting a nicer cord on the sandalwood fans (they have arrived).

That’s scary. I’ll add those to my list of Things to Avoid If I Ever Get Married.

Our wedding favors served a dual purpose. I bought a bunch of Mason jars and wrote our names and the date on them with a fancy glass decorating pen. I put a bit of candy in each one, and then the guests used them to drink from at the reception.

Everyone at my wedding is getting a fan. This might be a little girly, but I figure it will come in handy since Illinois can be hot and humid in June.
