I’m teaching a workshop soon at my library about using news feeds to help with professional development, and I’m trying to see if someone has put together a master list of the library and information science journals that offer tables of contents as RSS feeds. I can find some lists of academic journals in general that offer news feeds, but I’m having a hard time tracking down a list that is specific to library science. It seems to me like this is the type of thing someone would have put together. Any tips? Does anyone have an opml file for something like this?

Hmm, you’re right, I couldn’t find much either. All I did see was this. And yes, someone needs to do this & set up an OPML file for it! Will let you know if I spot anything else.

I knew there was something I was forgetting! The University of Saskatchewan Library has a great listing of journals by RSS feed. You can also browse by publisher, if that helps. Important note: none of the major LIS journal publishers is on their list! (eg: Emerald, Haworth, InfoToday, etc.) Shame. There might be a couple to be found though.

Thanks for the links! I’m going to show people the University of Saskatchewan journal list as an example of a place they can go to find feeds for journals in other disciplines, but it is too bad that there isn’t a big list of library science journals out there. I’d take it on making the opml file myself, but my workshop is this Friday so I was hoping someone else had already done it

There’s also the list from Cambridge Journals Online. Also, not specifically for LIS, but a start. Hopefully someone with the skills and time will see that we’re interested and create a list just for us

I have put together an agragated service at http://www.incite.pt/modules.php?name=Blogs&categ=6 , the site of a LIS association I’m the webmaster of.
The links to the magazines themselfs are available at the bottom half of the page.
One of these days I’m going to do an RSS agregated feed of each section.
I’m interested in knowing about more journals to append to this service.
