Look at the lovely new library catalog at NCSU. It is so much easier to search, with suggestions for narrowing or expanding your search after you enter in some keywords. There’s even a functional way to browse by LC Subject Heading. Here’s the news release, and the new features page. I found out about the catalog on Web4Lib. It takes not one, but two vendors to come up with an interface like this. I think NCSU has Sirsi/Dynix OPAC, but the nifty search features are coming from Endeca Profind.
In other cataloging news, Data Obsessed points to an article about cataloging manga and graphic novels (pdf).
In Carnival of the Infosciences News, I don’t have a whole lot of submissions so far. If you’ve written something you’d like to have included, e-mail it in to me at tangognat @ tangognat.com before next Sunday night! Just put “carnival” somewhere in the subject line.
