Earthsea Anime

in: anime, books

Anime News Network writes that Studio Ghibli’s next project is going to be based on Ursula K. LeGuin’s Earthsea books. Interesting. If any anime studio has to adapt these books, Studio Ghibli would be my pick. Look, Ged’s talking to a dragon!

It has to be better than that miserable mini-series froma year or two back, right?

I never watched the mini-series, but hopefully it is better!

Be glad you never watched the Scifi Channel’s mini-series. To put it mildy it was craptacular. It was like someone only read the back of the book and made a movie out of it.

Hopefully this will be a good adaptation. Just seeing the previews for the miniseries was enough to make me turn away.

I watched about 10 minutes of the miniseries, then deleted it from my TiVo. And normally I’ll watch all kinds of crap…

I suspect Ursula will not be pleased that Ged is *still* a honky.

Given how black people are often portrayed in anime and manga, I’m almost glad that Ged is still a honky.
