What really gets me about much of this Library 2.0 stuff is its ahistoricity (to quote Walt) and its asocialicity (to make up a word.) There's little to no sense of the social aspects of libraries, technology...people. I wonder what William Wisner or Sandy Berman make of all this

[...] It does seems somewhat arbitrary that a term like “Library 2.0″ can be coined, snatched up, and tossed about like a hacky-sack at Burning Man. I agree that it’s not quite the right label, but to be honest, I really don’t care–if we’re arguing over semantics, we’ve been derailed. So as I use the term “Library 2.0″ (L2), bear in mind that it’s only a way for me to refer to a collective of ideas. [...]

Regarding Library 360 feature 7 - I personally would prefer "Maestra" (term borrowed from Tom Robbins) or perhaps, for my male compatriots, "Mr. Sir" (borrowed from Louis Sachar's brilliant novel "Holes.")

Library 2.0 / Library 360 / Library 3-D

Some time soon I plan to jump into the Library 2.0 / Web 2.0 fray (I have no idea what it means, but I'm for it! I want my Library 2.0!), but in the meantime, I'm digging TangognaT's snarky post...

Any movement that is hard to understand or nebulous has some problems. I don't dismiss the idea of increased collaboration or taking cues from emerging social software in developing library applications, but the term "Library 2.0" seems to be so vague it could mean almost anything.

I would not be surprised to find out that Library 2.0 can also make french fries and tie my shoes.
