Woo!

in: books

I got Harry Potter 6 delivered today! I was surprised because I ordered it with the free shipping, so I was expecting it to show up sometime next week. It was funny because there were two deliveries of Potter books to my building, so I ran into my downstairs neighbor when I went to meet the postman. Well, now I know what I’m doing for most of the weekend….

yay! the mister went out this morning to pick up a couple of copies - one for his mum for her birthday, and one for us! Now we’re fighting over who gets to read it first…

I feel so out of the loop! Everyone is reading this book but me! Try as might, I just can’t get into Harry Potter. *sigh*

Got my copy at the stroke of midnight! And I left my glass slipper at the bookstore too.

I wasn’t expecting mine til next week either, but it was here when I got home. I thought I was going to have to dose one of the kids with Nyquil and steal their copy.

Don’t feel too bad Tina. I could never get into Hitchhiker’s Guide or any of the Ring trilogy books. I didn’t even watch any of the LOTR movies. If I didn’t have kids, I probably never would have picked up HP, but their interest and enthusiasm were infectious (I almost typed “infections”–heh).

    Rochelle: Thanks! :)

I tried the Hitchhiker and LOTR but to no avail. I just can’t get into those, either. And to think I was a librarian. I’m so ashamed. I know I’m missing out. I read the first three HP books and then lost interest.

I do think there are some books people can’t get into - it is just a matter of taste. Like, I’ve tried to read Stephen King, and I can’t get into his books (other than the Dark Tower series). And I’ve never been able to read any true crime books.
