I managed to snag an advance copy of the first volume of Doubt and I enjoyed it, so I was looking forward to the next episode in the saga of Ai’s fierce quest to become a beautiful popular girl. The second volume falls into a groove where Ai is clearly the popular, beautiful, ex-nerd equivalent of Charlie Brown. Events start falling into place caused by her newfound social status, but things never work out quite the way she’s imagined. She has to deal with a teacher who has a crush on So, the boy Ai is determined to make her boyfriend.

Although she tries to be cool, her true emotions shine through at times, causing complications. Sure, So and his friend Yuichiro might both be after her, but what if they act like total idiots? I did laugh a couple times while reading Doubt!, so if it continues to be amusing, I’ll keep buying it.
