So I’m back home in Champaign. My best friend from high school is getting married today, and my Mom is going to host some sort of after party tonight where between 30-60 people may or may not show up. I’m worried that Mom will want to keep the future Mr. Tangognat, as so far he […]

ALA2005: The Swag
So I did wander around the conference a bit talking to vendors and getting some stuff.
Totebags - I threw out/recycled most of my vendor totebags before I aquired a knitting habit, and now I actually could use a few totebags to store random bits of yarn for the projects I’m working on. It looked to […]
done with the conference
I’m not sure why I thought I’d get a ton of stuff done on Sunday after checking out of my hotel. I ended up being uber-tired because Saturday was a LONG day, and the future Mr. TangognaT and I decided to just come down to Champaign instead. So I missed some programs I was vaguely […]
yotsuba&!
Love Manga goes through the sales charts and points the way to a couple of articles. Broken Frontier reviews the first issue of Shojo Beat and there’s a review of the old school title Grey over at Comic Book Resources. I have to dig up my old issues of Grey, it was a great apocalyptic […]
photoblogging ALA
Here’s my day in pictures. I went to a pre-conference and later went out to eat with Mr. Tangognat and my Dad in Chinatown.
You could see people setting up exhibits:
And the giant glowing block of google illuminates the surrounding area.
Look out! Don’t head into the googlelight!!!!
I think the graphic novel pavilion might be somewhere between […]
City of the Big Shoulders
Well, I’m all checked into my hotel on the magnificent mile. Sirsi’s Docutek virtual reference company paid for an ad on my hotel room key, which I thought was interesting. I don’t remember getting library ads on my hotel room key when I’ve gone to ALA in the past. I’m going to a pre-conference tomorrow, […]
Ohio
Now I am in Ohio, or as Mr. Tangognat calls it, “God’s Country”. I’m wondering why “God’s Country” has so many potholes.
road trip
The future Mr. Tangognat and I are about to embark on a cross country road trip where we will drive to ALA, and along the way I will meet his parents and he will meet mine. One benefit of driving to Illinois - I was able to pack 6 pairs of shoes, maybe 7. I […]
Batman Begins
I thoroughly enjoyed this movie, I think it will end up being one of my favorite comic book movies, and I’ve seen quite a few of them. I think the key to having a good Batman movie is an actor who can play Bruce Wayne well. Bruce Wayne should be dark and a little crazy. […]
Rough ALA schedule
This might change depending on how tough it seems to hop on a shuttle bus and get to these many programs scattered around different hotels. I remember feeling fairly frustrated at nightmarish logistics the last time I attended ALA in Chicago.
