I ventured out in the rain to visit my comics shop. I picked up Legion of Superheroes #5, the Howard Chaykin Solo book, and W Juliet #4 - a title I keep meaning to drop but always seem to end up picking up if there’s not a lot of other stuff I’m buying. I tend to pre-order most of my manga through an online store because it ends up being much cheaper, but I do like to pick up some manga at my local comics shop from time to time because I do want to support their slowly expanding manga section.
Anyway, I got just what I would have wanted for free comics day: Alternative Comics, Comics Festival, the Flight issue, and a Tokyopop Sneaks volume. Score! This was the first time I’ve been able to visit a comic shop on free comics day, whenever it was scheduled before I always seemed to be on vacation or busy.
David Carter at Yet Another Comics Blog has been going strong with his free comic book day month, and if you want some (free for today) nifty web comics, check out GirlAMatic.

I bought some stuff online from tfaw.com, and they participated in the free comics thing too, giving away two free comics with every purchase, plus a Darth Vader for orders over $10.
And, I must say, I’m shocked to see that you didn’t write a haiku yesterday, 05/07/05. Shocked, I tell ya.

Wow, I didn’t even realize that about the date. I’m shocked too!
