Andre Norton

in: books

It has been years since I’ve read any books by Andre Norton, but I remember stumbling across the Witch World and Time War series during a period of time when I was around 11 or 12 and systematically devouring the entire contents of my public library’s fantasy and science fiction section. So when I think of Andre Norton, it takes me back to a time when I would bring a giant stack of books to the circulation desk, assure the librarian that I really would be able to bring all the books back by the due date because “I read very fast!”, and proceed to spend the rest of a summer day getting totally lost in a book, occasionally surfacing to get a drink or mutter in response to anyone attempting to talk to me. She wrote so much, if you bought all of her books you’d have a mini-library.

Didn’t she write Star Cats? I think that’s the only one I’ve read… and it was like 20 years ago. Yikes!

I do think people tend to discover Norton at a very early age. That’s what I told myself at least when I realized how long it had been since I’d read a book by her.
