It was pretty slow at the library today, there were tons of students there studying, but everyone is mostly done with their papers. When I was at the desk I only got questions about printing out example final exams from the online courseware system. And requests for office supplies. I think all of the library’s golf pencils were stolen by gremlins.
It gave me some time to update one of my projects — I maintain a list of databases that allow you to link directly to articles within them. There would probably be minimal or different upkeep on this if my library had a link resolver up and running, but you do what you can with what you have, you know?
Anyway, I have no idea when they started doing this, but I was happy to see that many of the Chadwyck Healey databases now offer “durable URLs”. This is nice because most of the science databases support article level linking through DOIs and when I’m showing faculty how to add these links to their class sites, in the past I’ve had fewer options available for the humanities people.
