Over at Polite Dissent, a breakdown of all of the ailments that affict the Legion of Superheroes. Man, Braniac 5 is really messed up. It looks like the entire Legion needs prozac too.

health problems of superheroes
forces of evil prevent me from seeing Garden State
I did not realize before today that the Loews theater at Boston Common had been overrun by Satan’s army. I know better now. There I was getting amped up on diet coke and jordan almonds when I realized that the movie was supposed to start 15 minutes ago. A few people started going out [...]
people in the library?!! madness!!!
There were actual people in the library today, when classes aren’t in session yet. I decided that they were all:
dedicated grad students working on their dissertations
random people using the internet
So, a Friday Refgrunt:
I’m sorry the web catalog is down. But you can use this telnet version!
No one has any questions. I have a long conversation [...]
Birth of a Nation
I recently read Birth of a Nation, the graphic novel by Aaron McGruder, Reginald Hudlin, and Kyle Baker about what happens when the mayor of East St. Louis decides to secede from the Union. If you are looking for some smart and funny political satire, I’d recommend it.

more list of eleven
I updated the list of eleven, adding David’s list. Steve Lieber sent me a ton of links (thanks!) for the Art Comics and Independents section of the list and I did a bit of googling as well so that section has more links to publisher and author information.
I think that the whole meme is [...]
more my little pony mods
Brill Building points to this page of my little ponies made to look like members of the Justice League. It even features two Booster Gold ponies. And they talk to each other.
Um, there are also Sailor Moon and Final Fantasy, KFC, and Borg (I’ve linked to this before) My Little Ponies.
And of course there is [...]
video games @ your library
Kempa writes about a Mario Kart Tournament held at the Ann Arbor District Library and points to a newspaper article about the event.
But I’m not Irish!
Ok, I had to take this Blue Monday Quiz (beware, many pop-up windows and flashing banners):
I’m CLOVER!Which BLUE MONDAY Character Are You?
Hee Hee! Blue Monday:Painted Moon #2 was by far the funniest comic book I’ve read in a long time
list of eleven updated again
So I’ve been doing my bit for meme tracking with my compiled list of Elevenses. I’ve uploaded the most recent version of the master list:
http://www.tangognat.com/eleven.htm
I added a crime/suspense category and a little bit of navigation so people can jump from genre to genre. I’m not entirely happy with the organization of the list, the whole [...]
don’t mess with Beat Takeshi
I saw Zatoichi today. I hink that it is the best movie I’ve seen so far this summer. In Zatoichi many gang leaders learn one of the basic laws of the universe:
Don’t mess with Beat Takeshi, because he will CUT you!!!
Really, you think by now, they’d know to run immediately when they see him. I’ve [...]
