tom cruise, iron man?

in: comics

I hadn’t realized that Tom Cruise still wanted to be Iron Man. Eh. I’m not a fan of Mr. Cruise, and I hadn’t pictured him playing Tony Stark/Iron Man, inventor-alcoholic-Vietnam Vet-millionaire playboy.

Well, I’ve never been all that fond of Iron Man anyway, but part of the problem is that I think I already cast the movie in my head, with Nick Cage playing the role.

It is a good time to be both a comic fan and a movie fan, but it is also a case of “careful what you wish for!” They are making so many comic book movies, I’m waiting for the announcement that Psi Force is being made into a movie. Wow, I had no idea Kyle Baker inked the first issue.

I remember reading Nicholas Cage was up for Superman, and then for Ghost Rider. I even heard he was interested in playing Catwoman. Well, maybe not.

I rather like the suggestion made in The Ultimates of Johnny Depp playing Iron Man. I believe the quote is “Just picture him doing Ed Wood in an Iron Man suit and you’ve got Tony Stark up there in cellulite, baby.”

Don’t you mean celluloid? Cellulite is fatty deposits on your thighs and butt. Being a skinny teenager, you probably haven’t encountered cellulite yet though.

That is a funny quote though. Somehow I always pictured Iron Man as being beefier than Johnny Depp.

Nick Cage SO wants to be in a comic book movie, I wouldn’t be surprised if he wanted to be Catwoman!

Yeah, Nicholas Cage is such a comic book geek, or so I’ve read. I heard he changed his name from Nicholas Coppola to Cage after one of his favorite comic book character, Martian Manhunter. Or was it Cage? Hmm…

Cage was also supposed to be in the Hellblazer movie, before the part went to Keanu. [Insert standard disgusted rant re: changing of John Constantine to an American here.]
