All over the comics blogosphere in the past couple days, a link to the 1970s essay by Larry Niven, Man of Steel, Women of Kleenex, which examines what would happen if Superman and Lois Lane ever got it on. I had heard of this referenced many times before, but never read it.
Don’t read it [...]

Peach Girl
I checked out the first volume of Peach Girl from the public library. When I first heard the title of the manga, I wondered if it was referencing to the old japanese folk tale “Momotaro“, the Peach Boy.
Evidently not! Peach Girl is the story of Momo (Japanese for peach), a girl on the high [...]
The Dewey Decimal System of Love
I did not like this book. I was holding out hope because the title was a little quirky, I thought it might be fun. But alas! It was not.
In addition to reading many comic books, fantasy and sci fi, and other random things, I do also read some chicklit from time to time. So [...]
I am a bad librarian
…but I am ready for my close-up, Mr DeMille! I was mentioned in Steven M. Cohen’s article on the “New Breed of Library Weblogs“. I got quite a kick out of being grouped with Nat, Mike, Greg, Liberry Blooze, Technobiblio, Tame the Web, Library Girl, and the Info Commons Blog. It’s all downhill from here, [...]
I made a toy
I love those websites that generate random words & phrases, I wanted to make one that would do the same for librarians, so I made one using the excellent javascript and arrays of They Fight Crime, but tweaking it a little bit to make it more libraryish. Check it out:

Everything has a beginning and an end
The teaching season is basically over. I am thrilled. I still have a couple classes here and there in the next few weeks, but I no longer have to feel like I am living and breathing freshmen library instruction.
I’m fine with the cyclical nature of the instruction librarian’s job. Usually right when I get to [...]

Neilalien reviews all recent Dr. Strange appearances.
Interview of Meridian writer Barbara Kessell at Sequential Tart, I have not been following the Crossgen Deathwatch all that closely, but I do think it is a shame that Meridian is being canceled, since the trade editions were great graphic novels to reccomend to girls! I haven’t been following [...]
superhero humor
I went to lunch with my visiting librarian friend and we ended up in a used bookstore, of course. I knew I would be able to find something cool when I stepped in the door and heard Johnny Cash playing over the store sound system. I found a copy of Jack Cole and Plastic Man [...]
